    A protocol update to protocol version 7, which includes improvements to smart contract functionality and staking behavior, is planned to take effect on mainnet on October 30th, 2024.

    New node software compliant with the protocol update is released for Linux, Windows, and MacOS here [1].

    Node runners must upgrade their nodes to version 7.0.5 before the new protocol takes effect. Nodes running earlier versions will stop processing new blocks at that point.
